Warehouse Mobile in Business Central works with all location setups, including basic locations that have no warehouse configuration. You don’t need bins or advanced warehouse setup to use mobile flows. You can receive directly on a purchase order or ship directly on a sales order from a basic location.
The tiles you see in Warehouse Mobile depend on the location code you log into. Each location card’s warehouse setup determines which functionality is available when you log into that location.
To receive on a purchase order from a basic location, you select the order, enter the posting date and vendor shipment number, update the purchase header, and choose whether to blank the quantity to receive on all lines before running the receive flow. For serial number handled items, you enter the serial number and the quantity stays at one.
How location setup controls Warehouse Mobile tiles
Warehouse Mobile can be used with all kinds of location setups in Business Central. Depending on the location code you log into, the tiles you see reflect the setup on the location card for warehouse functionality. On an advanced location, you get the standard advanced functionality. The tiles adapt automatically to whatever the location card is configured for.
Running warehouse flows on basic locations without bins
You are not limited to advanced locations. You can also run warehouse flows on non-warehouse locations. If you work on a basic location with no warehouse setup, no bins, and nothing else configured, it is still possible to receive directly on a purchase order or ship directly on a sales order.
This is useful when you have people working on a simple location but you still want some flow based functionality. With mobile flows, that is possible even without the full warehouse setup.
Receiving directly on a purchase order from mobile
The process is straightforward. You select a purchase order, enter the posting date, and add the vendor shipment number if you have one. Then you update the purchase header.
At that point you are asked whether you would like to blank the quantity to receive on all lines of the purchase order. If you say yes, it blanks the quantity to receive and starts the receive flow. You then select item numbers, quantities, and so on.
In the example, the purchase order has only one item number. Because it is a serial number handled item, the quantity has to be one, so you simply state the serial number.
With this functionality, you get warehouse-like handling on a basic location, which gives your team structured flows without requiring a full warehouse configuration.
