When you build mobile flow apps in Business Central, such as the Warehouse Mobile and the Shop Floor Mobile, you can reuse the same flow components across different apps. A flow like Find Item or Show Item Picture only needs to be set up once. When the same flow is used in several apps, it runs from a single shared setup.

This shared setup has a direct consequence. If you modify a flow that is part of multiple mobile flow apps, the change applies to all of them at once. You do not maintain separate copies for each app.

Reusable components across mobile flow apps

The Warehouse Mobile and the other mobile flow apps are built from generic components. Many of the pieces are the same across different apps, so you do not have to rebuild the same functionality every time you set up a new app.

In the Warehouse Mobile, for example, you have an action called Find Item. This action displays which bin holds a given item, based on the bin content table. There is also a simpler action called Show Item Picture, which just displays the picture of the item.

The same flow shared between Warehouse Mobile and Shop Floor Mobile

If you open the Shop Floor Mobile, which is one of the other mobile flow apps, you can see the same items there. Find Item and Show Item Picture both appear in the footer. It is the same flow running in both apps. In the setup, it is the same flow, not a duplicate.

What this means when you modify a flow

Because the flow is shared, any change you make affects every app that uses it. If a flow is part of many mobile flow apps and you modify it, the modification takes effect in all of them. This keeps maintenance simple, but it also means you should consider the full impact before you change a shared flow.

Q&A

Can the same flow be used in more than one mobile flow app?

Yes. The mobile flow apps in Business Central are built from generic components, and the same flow can be used across several apps. Actions like Find Item and Show Item Picture run from a single shared setup rather than separate copies.

What happens if I modify a flow that is used in multiple apps?

The change applies to every app that uses that flow. If a flow is part of many mobile flow apps and you modify it, the modification takes effect in all of them at once.

What does the Find Item action do?

The Find Item action displays which bin holds a given item, based on the bin content table.
