If you use the password functionality in the Mobile WMS user setup, you can let each user set and change their own PIN code without giving them access to the resource card. This keeps the password private to the user while an administrator still manages the setup.

When you enable the password mandatory option or the allowed PIN code functionality in the user setup, an administrator with access to the resource setup table can set the PIN code directly on the resource card. The problem is that this exposes the PIN code to whoever has access to that table. If you want each user to keep their own password private, you need a way for them to set it themselves.

Letting end users set their own PIN code in Mobile WMS

End users typically do not have access to the resource card, so they cannot change the PIN code from there. Instead, they can use the Change PIN code function available from the overview. You give the user an initial PIN code, then ask them to go in and change it to whatever new PIN code they want.

Once the user changes their PIN code, it updates automatically on the resource card. This means the administrator does not need to know the user’s chosen password, and the user keeps full control over their own credentials.

Two ways to manage PIN codes in the setup

You have two options for managing PIN codes:

  • From the resource setup: An administrator with access to the table sets or changes the PIN code directly on the resource card.
  • From the overview using Change PIN code: The end user changes their own PIN code, which then updates on the resource card.

Q&A

How can a user change their own PIN code in Mobile WMS?

The user goes to the overview and uses the Change PIN code function. You give them an initial PIN code, and they replace it with their own new one. The change updates automatically on the resource card.

Can a user set their own password without access to the resource card?

Yes. End users usually do not have access to the resource card, but they can still set their own PIN code through the Change PIN code function in the overview.

Who can change the PIN code from the resource setup?

An administrator with access to the resource setup table can set or change the PIN code directly on the resource card.
