The Graphical Inventory Profile in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central lets you view an item’s expected inventory profile directly from the item card, sales orders, purchase orders, planning worksheets, and requisition worksheets. You click a line and open the profile to see all demands, supplies, and dates, which tells you the item’s availability over time.

You can adjust what the profile shows by checking different options. For example, you can include planning lines to see the consequences of a planning run, or view the profile without them.

The tool gives both sales staff and purchasers a fast overview. A purchaser can see when items are arriving and what the demands are, all from the relevant document line.

What the Graphical Inventory Profile does

The Graphical Inventory Profile is a tool that makes it possible to view an item’s inventory profile from several places in Business Central. You can open it from the item card or from documents such as sales orders and purchase orders, as well as from planning worksheets and requisition worksheets.

The point is to get a quick visual overview of an item’s expected inventory situation. You see all demands and supplies, the dates they fall on, and from that you can read your availability.

Using the profile from a sales order

If you are working in a sales order, you can click a sales order line and open the Graphical Inventory Profile from there. This gives you a clear overview of the inventory profile for that item, showing all demands and supplies, their dates, and the resulting availability.

Using the profile from a purchase order

The same works on a purchase order. As a purchaser, you enter a purchase order, click the line, and open the graphical profile. From there you can see all supplies and demands for the specific item, when stock is expected to arrive, and what your demands are.

Including planning lines from worksheets

You can also open the profile from a planning worksheet or requisition worksheet. Click the line and navigate into the Graphical Inventory Profile.

Here you have the option to include planning lines, which lets you see the consequences of the planning. You can view the profile with or without the planning lines, so you can compare the current situation against what the planning will result in.

Setup and viewing options

The profile comes with a number of options you can check to control what it shows. This lets you view the inventory profile against different criteria, depending on what you need to see in a given scenario.
